Just extract the "Dead Sun {DX}.vl2" to your Tribes2/gamedata/base directory and you're all set to go!

NOTES:

First off I'm sure you're all wondering why I thanked {DX}punk_rock_fan in the mission string. Basically when I made my map I started off by taking Tombstone and deleting all the objects from it aside from the environmental things (sun, terrain, sky). Big mistake there. I deleted the flags, and there was some bug where when I clicked on the flag in the creator to make one, nothing happened. I enlisted his help to try to find a cure for my problem. Now basically I'm just starting out as a mapper, and still am learning as I go along, so I don't know everything about the editor. I'm also helping punk learn how to map. You'll see that he thanked me for my help on Vexis {DX} (his first map if you aren't in the clan, or don't hang around our server).

So anyway, back to my little story...

I tried several things to make flags. I first tried making an object (a repair patch if you must know) and changing the dts shape file to a flag. This just made it "<NULL>" and it had no object. So I deleted it. The I tried copying and pasting the object information from one .mis file to my Dead Sun {DX}.mis file. This did nothing again.

This is where I enlisted punk to help. I asked him to go to the editor and see if he could create flags. And he could. So I narrowed it down to that it was just my editor being gay. I e-mailed him my file and asked him to create a flag I could use, but he opened it up in the map editor, and got the same glitch. So, I said "Okay, it's not my editor, it's my map."

This is where he saved my butt.

He suggested using the import/export tool I had never messed with before. I fiddled around with it a bit and got the hang of it. So I went to Katabatic (a classic. best map IMO), and exported the flags. I went back to Dead Sun and imported them. Nothing happens. They don't work. Flags seemed to be incompatable with it for some odd reason. I was like crap. That only leaves one option. Yes, if you already map, you might have guessed it.

I had to import and export the bases.

This actually turned out not to be that hard of a job in the end. Just a pain to select EVERYTHING in the base on-by-one. After a long time holding Ctrl (my pinky hurts now), I finally had exported everything in the map. So I opened up a new version of Tombstone and started deleting everything, EXCEPT the flags. Then I started importing all my objects.

So here I am with a completely unique map, thanks to punk_rock_fan.

(insert applause)

VGAD!!!

This all leads me to my next note:

If you're a mapper and you opened up Dead Sun in the editor you will notice something very inconvenient. The Sim Groups are all jumbled together and theres almost no organization within the bases.

This is basically just because when I exported the objects I had them in groupings like this:

Dead Sun team1base
Dead Sun team2base
DS archway
DS rock ledge
DS team1flag
DS team2flag
DS team1base rocks

So my Sim Groups basically are grouped in large... err.. groupings.

Anyways, I hope that clears up any questions you had. If you have anything else, by all means e-mail me. I'd be happy to answer any questions/comments you have. Just don't send me any flames. Those aren't fun to get and they're useless.
